DEKALB COUNTY BUILDING AND
DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION
COUNTY LEGISLATIVE POSITIONS
JULY 2008
ENERGY
We are in
support of action to ensure that DeKalb County and the State of
Illinois do what it takes to develop sources for renewable
energy. We believe all sources of energy such as: Wind, Solar
and Ethanol are in the fore front for the County and its Energy
plan.
ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT
We support
the county’s efforts along with other county communities to
provide for a good highway network, providing routes of
transportation to expedite commerce to and from DeKalb County.
The DeKalb County Building and Development Association
encourages that Peace Road be 80,000 lb. road allowing for
efficient means of moving products to and from the county.
OPEN/GREEN/PRESERVE AREAS
We encourage the County’s Forest Preserve
commissioners to fully examine the effects of new land
purchases. Thoughtful planning is encouraged to determine the
need for more forest preserve areas. Careful consideration
should be given for new acquisition, focusing on the expenditure
of the taxpayers dollars. The DeKalb County Building and
Development Association is opposed to any Public Land Takings.
LAND USE
The DeKalb County Building and Development
Association supports the county’s plan in so much as to allow
for developments in and or near communities that have the zoning
rights for annexations. The association supports fully the two
thirds vote of the county board to allow or not allow for
annexations that are not contiguous to the annexing
municipalities. We also recognize the vital role our agriculture
community plays in the economic development of the county. We
encourage and support all efforts for developing areas to
commingle with new developments. The Association believes in the
right for any and all to rightfully develop without undue
burdens imposed by local governments.
LAW AND JUSTICE
We support and encourage the county to be open to
all avenues of incarceration. We support the county on its’
plans to continue to explore all avenues for making the court
system more effective.
